Nintendo HQ in Kyoto caught fire today luckily, no one was injured by the blaze. The incident was reported by NHK, a Japanese news company but has been translated into English by VGC.
The fire started on the third floor of Nintendo’s HQ, and it’s being reported that only a few desks and chairs were damaged. It was reported to have started slightly after 1 pm local time on August 15, and there were employees in the building at the time. From the reports, it looks like the fire was actually extinguished by employees before emergency services arrived on the scene.
While the cause of the fire hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s believed that it may have been caused by an electronic device being charged. Japan is currently experiencing a record summer for severe heat days, so it’s possible this played a role in the fire.
