One of the biggest surprises from Nintendo’s Partner Showcase was the announcement that the action RPG Nier: Automata would be coming to the Switch in October. Despite Nier: Automata being several years old — the game originally released on the PlayStation 4 in 2017 and the Xbox One in 2018 — many wondered how well it would run on the Nintendo Switch. Recently, the official Nier Twitter account in Japan shed some light on Nier: Automata‘s Switch performance.
#NieR #ニーア pic.twitter.com/bgsd34Mn2H

According to the game’s official Twitter account, Nier: Automata will run at 30 frames-per-second in both docked and handheld mode. When playing the game in docked mode, Nier: Automata will be running at 1920×1080 resolution, and in handheld mode, the game will run at 1280×720.
When the Switch is docked, Nier: Automata will play at 1080p, and when the Switch is in handheld mode, it will run at 720p instead.
The 1080p and 720p are the highest resolutions available on the Switch for both modes, but we’ll need to wait for release day to see if these targets have been met.
The tweets also revealed that Nier: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition will also include all currently available DLC, but the development team is also planning on delivering an additional free DLC as well.
If you missed the Nier: Automata trailer during the Direct Mini Partner Showcase, we’ve added it down below. Nier: Automata will release for the Nintendo Switch on October 6, and it’s available for pre-order on the Square Enix Store for $39.99.
