Mother 3 Producer Wants To See English Release

If you’re still holding out for Mother 3 to make it to the Nintendo Switch, you’re not alone. Mother 3 producer Shinichi Kameoka recently sat down for an interview with Nintendo Everything, noting that he would “love to see Mother 3 released in the US and Europe.”

It is important to note that Kameoka may want Mother 3 to get an English release, but Kameoka doesn’t speak for Nintendo. Kameoka is the president and CEO of Brownies, the studio behind the EGGLIA Rebirth Switch release.

So far, Mother 3 hasn’t received an official release outside of Asia. So far, Nintendo hasn’t given any indication that Mother 3 is coming, and even if the game was localized, the controversy around the game might be more of a headache that Nintendo wants.

Mother 3 includes some violence as well as a scene where one of the characters goes on a psychedelic trip. Violence and drug use aren’t new to video games, but an M rating from the ESRB would be an unfortunate blemish on the cover art for EarthBound’s sequel.

As announced earlier this month at the Nintendo Direct, the first two games in the Mother series have been added to Nintendo Switch Online. While we wait for Mother 3, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can play EarthBound Beginnings for the NES and EarthBound for the SNES right now.
