After the Nintendo Switch price decrease in Europe, there’s been a lot of thought about the prices for North America. Canada has received a price drop as well, but it looks like the US will not be getting one any time soon.
Former Kotaku writer and co-author of Axios Gaming’s newsletter Stephen Totilo, claims Nintendo has told him there are no plans for a US price drop.
Posting about it to Twitter, he includes a supposed quote from a Nintendo spokesperson. According to the post, the trade price adjustment is just for the European region and does not include the United States.
Nintendo tells me yesterday’s Switch price drop was just for Europe (and the UK):
“The trade price adjustment is for the European region only. There are no plans to change the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for any Nintendo Switch model in the U.S.”

Nintendo has not yet made any official statements themselves about if there will be or won’t be a price drop for the US. There has been a small price decrease in Canada, however, so the US might see a similar price decrease before the release of the Nintendo Switch OLED.
