Pokémon Legends: Arceus Has Been Leaked, Datamined

Avoiding leaks and spoilers about the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus has become much more difficult in the past few days. Just a week ahead of the official release date, Arceus appears to have been leaked online, and physical copies of the game have been spotted in the wild.

There are spoilers all over the internet that include unannounced details, unofficial screenshots, and more.

In a now-deleted tweet, Known Pokémon leaker Poryleeks has posted an image, showing a physical copy of the game in a car. Naturally, this tweet was followed up with new screenshots and unseen video footage from the game.

Laura Dale has also tweeted about the opening hours of Arceus, noting that Nintendo’s pre-release trailers completely hid narrative and gameplay aspects. Tantalizing, huh?

Meanwhile, OatmealDome has posted information from the game’s datamining. According to him, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has a 6GB file size, which is much smaller than the 9.5GB of the previous mainline Pokémon games, Sword and Shield. Though unsurprising, OatmealDome has also revealed that the game runs on a custom Game Freak engine, probably the same as Sword and Shield, and it marks the first time that Nintendo has used the new NPLN server system, a server that Nintendo adopted for Monster Hunter Rise.

Other dataminers who got their hands on Arceus early have already found the full Pokédex, which includes Hisuian variants of a few Pokémon and a range of never-before-seen pocket monsters. CentroLeaks has posted the full Pokédex on Twitter, and the account has also posted videos of the gameplay.

If you don’t want any spoilers for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, say goodbye to Twitter for a week. Beware of certain Discord servers. Stay away from Reddit. (Or maybe bury your head in the sand.)

Thankfully, there’s not much longer to wait. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will officially release next week, January 28.
