Nintendo fans have once again managed to impress. This time, they’ve recreated a long lost demo for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Spaceworld was Nintendo’s annual expo in Japan from 1989 to 2001, and in 1997, a demo for a new The Legend of Zelda game was featured at the event. The demo was a unique build that showcased features and elements that didn’t make it into the final game on the Nintendo 64.
While the 1997 demo is gone, enthusiastic fans have been working hard to recreate it. Code for the demo was found on a development cartridge of F-Zero X and additional content was discovered in the “gigaleak.” This included textures and a lot of assets from the original Spaceworld 1997 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time demo.
Titled “Ocarina of Time – Spaceworld ’97 Beta Experience,” the demo is not 100% accurate since some of the information was missing. The developers had to piece the demo together with some additional elements but for the most part, it’s pretty accurate.
