Nintendo announced a surprise 40-minute Nintendo Direct yesterday. The announcement came after weeks of rumors and speculation about what the next Nintendo Direct would contain.
While we don’t know everything that will be included, we have a few ideas….
What’s Almost Guaranteed
We can expect news and updates for new Nintendo release along with some soon-to-be released titles, too. This means we can expect more Metroid Dread, maybe some DLC for WarioWare: Get It Together, and potentially a Pokémon Unite update.
There might also be some news for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 — hopefully including a catchier name — and other major upcoming titles for early 2022. Nintendo has confirmed they will not be attending the Tokyo Game Show, so we could see major news being dropped.
A new look at Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will most likely be included, too. But the Pokémon Company likes to present their own games, so maybe it’ll just be a quick teaser.
On top of that, Nintendo has a new Nintendo Switch controller to announce.
What Might Happen
It’s still uncertain what the new controller is, but it’s suspected to be based on the Nintendo 64 or Game Boy.
There are rumors that games from both consoles are being ported to the Nintendo Switch. However, the controller could just be for the Nintendo Switch OLED, so we might not be getting more retro ports for Switch.
We could see some gameplay from other titles we know are coming, like…
-
Splatoon 3 (though this might be a bit early still)
-
Project Triangle Strategy
-
Shin Megami Tensei V
-
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
-
Bayonetta 3
-
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Wishlist Games That Aren’t Going to Happen (Probably)
As much as we want them, we probably won’t see this games at the show:
-
Metroid Prime 4
-
Super Mario Odyssey 2
-
Pikmin 4
-
F-Zero
-
Donkey Kong
-
Paper Mario
-
Star Fox
