No huge surprise here, but now we know for sure that the physical version of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch will require a digital download. The cover art for the remastered GTA trilogy states “Download required.”
(To be clear, Rockstar Games never said that the games would all be on the cartridge.)
It’s not unusual for these types of bundles to require additional digital downloads. Fitting all three GTA games on a single cartridge would be challenging, but it’s a letdown for players who prefer to buy physical media. If you want something to put on your shelf, you’ll get that with the GTA trilogy, but is it worth it? Especially if you have to wait an extra month?
The all-digital version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition will be released on November 11. The physical version will be released on December 7.
